The subject of remasters is pretty hot right now, with Simpsons Hit and Run beating out games like GTA San Andreas and Bully for the most requested remaster. Mortal Kombat 2 seems an odd choice to put on the poll compared to the other titles, so it could be a little wink to that trilogy.
A remastered Mortal Kombat trilogy called Mortal Kombat Kollection has been leaked several times before over the past few years, although it has never seen the light of day. Interestingly, the only game out of this list that seems likely to get a remaster is Mortal Kombat 2, which sat at the bottom of the poll. Never say never though, Shaolin Monks has clearly proven that it has some staying power here. Not only does he like to troll the fanbase, but a lot of his activity on Twitter is just community engagement and doesn't tend to lead to much. This result probably shouldn't come as too much of a surprise for the Mortal Kombat community. Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks is an action-based beat em up game and a spin-off of the classic fighting game franchise, Mortal Kombat.Although Shaolin Monks features familiar characters from the MK series, this game offers a lengthy adventure instead of replayable competitive fighting. Ed Boon even commented on the success of the poll, with fans managing to get Shaolin Monks trending on Twitter.
Although Mortal Kombat 9 garnered near 30% of the votes, Shaolin Monks easily took the led with almost 50% of all of the votes.
